Another new year!

Hello Fellow Feel Fitters,

I am very pleased to welcome 16 new members to our Feel Fit Family. We all wish you success in your fitness quest. Remember to start with doable goals and make small but steady progress.

"Inch by inch it's a cinch
But by the yard it's hard!"

Also if you fail to plan you plan to fail!

Please put your calendar in a visible spot such as your fridge and follow through with your goals. Always have an alternate plan in case plan A falls through.
Our meetings are every six weeks and our next meeting will be on May 29th. The dates of all the meetings for the following year are

They are on Sundays and start at 12:30pm. We have speakers and activities at our meetings. Remember membership has it's privileges and all of our 1,211 members are entitled to a free assessment from Dr. Isabelle Gagnon.
Second and third year members have a membership card which entitles them to many discounted and free services.
I will be letting you know the location of our May meeting in a follow up posts.
If you are interested in wearing some of the Feel Fit apparel check out the jackets, blouses and polo shirts at Murray's Sport's Store in Shawville.

In the meantime stay fit and stay healthy! Thank you all for being part of the Feel Fit movement. And a big thank you to my fellow Women's Wellness members who keep up with the membership list etc.

Women's Wellness Day 2011

Thanks to all of our speakers, members and ladies who joined us in Campbell's Bay on Sat. April 16th, we had another wonderful Day of Women's Wellness for 2011. We were pleased  to have all of your participation this year.
With your valuable comments on the evaluation sheets, we will do better and better every year!

This year, we started with Lynn and Michael's speech about ovarian cancer. By getting to know more  and talking openly about it, we will all benefit as people might notice the symptoms in earlier stages.

The second speaker followed with a talk by Mr. Blondin about  the Canadian Diabetes Association which taught us some basic knowledge about Diabetes.

In the afternoon we had The Wakefield Grannies sharing their inspiring stories and experiences on helping African Grannies  raise their orphaned grandchildren.

As this was our 2nd year celebration of Feel Fit, we ended with an absolutely fun and entertaining activity of line dancing led by our dance instructor, Susie!

Thank you all for the great day and special thanks to The Cafe, Jordan (technican) and Lulu, our photographer and website manager.

Upcoming Events

Hello Everybody,

We still have tickets available for the Women's Wellness Day , April 16th. Call a WW member or email me, the cost is $32.00 for the day and lunch is included.

Also a new yoga class is starting at the gym in Shawville in the next week on Wed. at 8:00pm. Please let anyone you know who might be interested or need a good stretching program.

Susie's line dancing is starting on Wed at 10:30 for the next 5 weeks at the Lions Hall. Cost $30.00 for the session or $7.00 a class. After that the classes will be at Coronation Hall at 11:00 am on Wed. and Friday to determine which day is best. Note 20 are needed to have the class go ahead.

I hope you are all well and able to work on your fitness plan. Don't just limit your goals to fitness you can add in anything you need to set a goal for. eg. house cleaning, yard cleaning etc. All those jobs that need doing at this time of year.

In the mean time stay healthy and stay feel fit!

Great food+Talks+Walk=A healthy Sunday!

Another great meeting for Feel-fiters yesterday!

We are thankful to have John's motivational talk about Relay for Life coming up in June. Also Isabella's fun speech and demonstrations. We all could see how easy it could be to reach a daily fitness goal with the right exercises! By sharing our fitness goal and information together, we have learned one more great tool to reach our fitness potential. Another great news shared yesterday is that the grant proposal submitted in Sept. was accepted and we will be receiving our funding shortly!! We are very pleased that the New Horizon felt our mission of spreading the 'Feel Fit' message was worthy. We will be letting you know more about the plans in the near future.
We also are very pleased to introduce 3 new members to our Feel Fit program, Lise Lemaire, Colleen Berry and Cheryl Stanley. We wish you all the best in your goal setting and following through with your plan.
The girls yesterday went on a walk around town and recommitted to their personal plan.
Don't forget to put your activity for each day on your calendar.

This Sunday Event- Mar 27th

I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful sunshine this weekend!
This Sunday, we are going for a walk! (if the weather permitting, of course)

Please bring your walking shoes to join us this Sunday. Lunch is at 12:30 at the Cafe and we will have a discussion about Relay for Life this summer.

The true secret of Youth- Exercise!

Hello Everyone,
Yesterday on the cover of the Ottawa Citzen was a story titled "The true secret of Youth? Exercise!
The article was about a study done on mice: one group exercised for 3x a weeks doing moderate treadmill for 5 months and the second group did not exercise. The results were amazing, the exercised mice were healthier in every aspect of their body ie (skin, hair,kidneys, spleen etc.) Only 3 times a week on a treadmill did it for mice it works the same for humans! Lets get busy!
Ray from Pure Life Adventures is still offering us a half day of dog sleding during the week for $50.00 a person.
I have a few people interested and we need 24 to get this deal. You can bring your friends or spouse this is not limited to just Feel Fit members. Please email and let me know your interest.
We are still looking for members to join the RElay for Life on June 4th.
Our Day of Women's Wellness is April 16th at Cambell's Bay RA Hall. The cost is $32.00 and we have 3 speakers and line dancing to end the day. This is also a Celebration of our second year of "Feel Fit" Our tickets will be available from members on Mar. 1st. Please speak to reserve a ticket from your contact person.
Also this week in the Citzen was an article in Dave Browns column on Connie Renaud's determination and persistence to get the Pontiac Ski trails up and running. Way to go Connie!
It is a beautiful day so let's make the most of it. I plan to go xcountry skiing as soon as I finish this letter.

ps. I am starting a brand new YOGA class for people who have never done yoga or any floor exercise in a long, long time.
I have room for 8 and 4 are already interested so email or call if you are ready to get in on this beginner, beginner program. The day is probably a Mon. time to be announced.
