The 7th Women's Wellness Meetin

Thanks to everyone who joined us on Saturday, Feel Fit had a successful 7th annual meeting on Saturday, April 26.

The meeting started with Muriel's opening, following by the inspiring and cheerful speech from our guest speaker - Kathie Donovan who was the co-host of Regional Contact on CTV for 24 years and now a public speaker, life artist and author of "Inspiration in Action". Through her life experiences and stories, she encourages women to focus on the truly important factors of being optimistic, embrace life and make stuff happen.

Here are some of the event pictures. What a wonderful time to spend with you ladies! Stay well and feel fit!

Day 43

Well Day 43 almost half way through my 90 day detox! Yes I am pleased with the results so far.  I as mentioned in previous blogs have a much less coughing.
I feel a need to stay honest because of the Feel Fit girls who know I am doing this and also because I have committed to writing this blog.

So her is the honesty, I fell of the no sugar detox and had several tlbs of honey and cinnamon. I had just read on face book how honey and cinnamon have many health benefits and I wanted something sweet so chose to believe it at that moment. However what was going to be only 1 tlbs turned into 3-4! I repeated the honey/cinnamon fix a week later.

I also fell of the no wine/ alcohol last Friday evening and had 2 glasses of white wine. Barb  felt I should celebrate  my half way mark in the detox. It was something about 40 days and 40 nights. Mind you it didn't take a lot of convincing.

I treated myself this week to a coconut /pineapple milkshake. It was a little flat so I added dates and sunflower seeds. The dates gave it the sweetness I required.

Thank goodness more restaurants are adding gluten free choices to their menus. Last Mon. after visiting family in Carelton Place we found a restaurant "Bally Giblins which had a full page of gluten free choices!

To my surprise Billy T's had gluten free individual size pizza's.
Pizza is one of the fast foods that I missed the most and now thank goodness I can get it now right in Shawville Domino's have a very good gluten free pizza as well.

I have to thank Ruth at the Cafe for her excellent gluten free pasta salad she made today for our Feel Fit meeting.

Now wish me luck as I continue towards the second half of the detox! I have not gotten sick. Touch wood!

Happy New Year's! day 32!!!

Happy New Year's to myself and all readers! I am on day 32 and have not had 1 glass of wine except a sip of communion, not even at mid night last night! And you know what? I did not even miss it!!
I enjoy drinking water knowing I am flushing away all those toxins and getting rid of germs  that seem to be fling around at this time of year.

This program so far seems to be working, over the holidays other years has been a challenge for me and I often get sick but even with Jenn sick before Christmas and Lulu sick at New Years I so far have stayed healthy. I drink lots of hot water and fresh squeezed lemon and sometimes I put fresh ginger in it or turmeric and I continue to use 2 drops of peppermint oil in hot water as well. The wild oil of oregano is helping I am sure.

I had 1&1/2 cup of coffee on Christmas day and seemed to have a gastric issue. It might have been coincidental but not sure so have stayed away from it ever since. I continue with the aloe drink as well.

I had a little chocolate and a little gluten and dairy New Year's eve afternoon. I noticed a repeated twinging in my right side a few hours afterwards so must be diligent regarding those items as well.

Now that the holidays are over it will be easier for me to maintain my detox of no sugar, no dairy, no gluten and no alcohol and no coffee!

After 90 days I will start to reintroduce a few items at a time or maybe have to stay on this plan for the rest of my life!!! Yiks!!.

I do feel better and look better as well with the weight loss.

32 days down and 58 to go! I am doing well!

Well here it s Day 22 of 90 day detox!.

Results I have noticed: I am not coughing as much! Yahoo, Yahoo!

I have even decided not to colour  my hair with the support of my hair dresser who totally understands my concern for not wanting to add toxic hair products to my hair. Now this decision may not hold for all 90 days as my hair is very fine and has little body. The colouring gives it body and does look better.
I have cheated as Christmas company came (my family) I have had  a piece of brownie (gluten free) which contains lots of sugar! I do believe sugar adds to my coughing problem.
I also had cranberries which contained sugar and a bowl of jellied salad. Christmas is a hard time to stay pure. Sugar is in so many things!I made a very good turkey dressing with gluten free bread, mixed with sweet potato and coconut oil instead of butter.
I have been able to stay away from dairy except for a little milk in the omelet I made for breakfast.

I have been searching the web for cures for asthma and here are some interesting things I found:
Asthma is on the increase in children in NA. Some research points to allowing children to be exposed to dirt, animals and day care which supposedly helps the immune system??

Asthma according to one doctor can be cured by drinking lots and lots of water. One should drink 1/2 their body weight in fluid ounces every day. This does help me, I am very sure I feel better and do not get sick when I drink H2O and flush out my system.

Another remedy was to drink boiling water with garlic in it. I tried this once and I do believe garlic helps keep me healthy.
Another gal suggested putting  peppermint oil, 2 drops in your water, and drink it. I tried this also and found it helpful as well. Any oil is good. I also firmly believe wild oil of oregano (2 drops under my tongue) keeps me healthy also.

So with all this effort I am trying to stay free from illness. I also definitely am continuing with my usual  medication.

I also think one of the remedies is to get lots of sleep. I require a lot of sleep. Some nights for no reason I do not sleep and I can tell my system works harder on those days.

So wish me luck as I continue on my plan for another 68 days!

Well today is day 16 of my detox and I am proud of my accomplishments. Apart from a rare lick of honey on a spoon I have stayed away from sugar and I guess honey is not so bad, a pure and natural sweetener.
This weekend was a bit of a challenge for the detox as we were away with our Grandson over night Sat. in the city. I managed with the help of Alex who found me gluten free sodium filled chips in the vending machine at the hockey rink. Going out to eat with family is fun but you do not eat as well as at home. Never sure of how much GM food I am consuming?? or how many additives either??

I do notice results and according to Audrey I did not cough until the very end of my yoga class last Tuesday evening. Now the downside of feeling so clear of sinus issues is that I neglected to get up and take my asthma puffers after lying down Sat evening. I am obviously coughing a lot more . I have learned my lesson no matter how tired I am I must get up and take my medication.

Eventually I might not have to take my meds but that might be a long way off. I am very optimistic and am trying to visualize perfect health.

As well as feeling clearer I  have lost weight which is a plus and a boost.

Today the yoga girls had a pot luck after yoga we ate very healthy foods. I made a quinoa salad with Thai peanut sauce.
I did not make a Christmas cake this year as the fruit is loaded with sugar. I am taking this very seriously! I remember my dear friend Patsy going to a nutritionist and telling me cancer loves sugar!! After reading Susanne Somers book, "Knockout" this fall I realize how important food and diet are in maintaining good health.

So now the Christmas season is here and I must be strong and maintain this healthy goal which I have set for myself. It really isn't so hard as I have committed myself to it!

Only 74 more days! After that who knows what I'll eat. I'll keep periodically posting so keep following.
