The true secret of Youth- Exercise!

Hello Everyone,
Yesterday on the cover of the Ottawa Citzen was a story titled "The true secret of Youth? Exercise!
The article was about a study done on mice: one group exercised for 3x a weeks doing moderate treadmill for 5 months and the second group did not exercise. The results were amazing, the exercised mice were healthier in every aspect of their body ie (skin, hair, kidneys, spleen etc.) Only 3 times a week on a treadmill did it for mice it works the same for humans! Lets get busy!
Ray from Pure Life Adventures is still offering us a half day of dog sleding during the week for $50.00 a person.
I have a few people interested and we need 24 to get this deal. You can bring your friends or spouse this is not limited to just Feel Fit members. Please email and let me know your interest.
We are still looking for members to join the RElay for Life on June 4th.
Our Day of Women's Wellness is April 16th at Cambell's Bay RA Hall. The cost is $32.00 and we have 3 speakers and line dancing to end the day. Also this week in the Citzen was an article in Dave Browns column on Connie Renaud's determination and persistence to get the Pontiac Ski trails up and running. Way to go Connie!
It is a beautiful day so let's make the most of it. I plan to go xcountry skiing as soon as I finish this letter.
Fitfully Yours,

Relay for Life 2011

Hi Everyone,

Feel Fit is looking for members to join the Relay for Life team.

Last year we submitted a team and came third overall for contributions. You can click on the following link to see how great we were doing and enjoying it.

If you are interested in signing up contact France Lamarche or myself and get on the TEAM. This is a very worthwhile cause to raise money for cancer.

Fitfully,
Muriel

Feb 13th meeting

Hi Everyone,

How do you like all the fluffy snow we received today?. I guess we will get fit shovelling.
This is a reminder that Feb. 13th is our next "Feel Fit" meeting. It will be at the Cafe at 12:30pm.
Please let me know asap so I can give Ruth a count for lunch. If you have a success story and want to share it let me know.

We are also very excited about " Ski Pontiac " trails that Connie and Shirley are working on. The official opening of the trails is Feb. 12 at Pine Lodge at 11am. Please bring your skis or snow shoes down and try out the great trails.

At our last meeting we had two brand new members, Diane S. a hair dresser from Style 1 and Bea H. who also works at the spa giving facials and massage and manicures. Welcome to Feel Fit and remember to post your chart where you can see it. And start with a simple plan. Slow and steady wins the race. If we start with goals that are to hard we might feel discouraged when we don't meet them.

I hope to hear from all of you and remember we are starting to sell 2011-2012 our $10.00 memberships at our next meeting. This will help aleviate congestion at our table on Women's Wellness Day which is Sat., April 16th in Campbell's Bay.

Fitfully Yours,
Muriel

How are you?

Hello Everyone,

How are you doing with your new goals.?

Thanks to all who came out on Sunday after the snowfall, we had great inspiration from Rhonda. Thanks so much Rhonda for sharing your journey to date with us. The yoga was well received and we had bodies everywhere on the gym floor.
I hope you had a chance to see Deepak Chopra on Dr. Oz. He talked about using meditation to help lose weight. By being always mindful of what we are doing (which is aided by mediation) we make conscious decisions about what we eat. Not only will meditation help diet but it can help lower blood pressure as well. It is a simple concept but not always easy to follow. By emptying the mind and being still for a period everyday we will be helping our bodies relief stress. If anyone would like a talk and demo on this we can arrange it for a meeting. Just let me know.

Yoga will be starting in the new gym the first week in Feb. Call and sign up the cost is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non gym members.

Line dancing started at the Lions Hall and you can still join this Mon. at 1:00pm.

Zumba and Children's Zumba is being given as well. Call Julia Clark for info.

Connie Renaud gave a report about the Xcountry trails and an official opening will be held Feb. 12 at Pine Lodge. If you wish to use the trails you can park at Pine Lodge. Call Connie or email her for info 819-647-3939.

Our next meeting will be on Sun.Feb. 13th. Hope you circle it on the calendar. I'll send out more info re the program and place when everything gets arranged.

I am going to be on the water for 10 days enjoying some vitamin D. I'll try to send an email from the south.

Fitfully Yours,
Muriel

Letter from Muriel

Hello everyone,

Our Oct. 3rd meeting was very pleasant. We are pleased to introduce 6 new members: (Names deleted). Welcome to our group and we know you will improve your health by becoming more fit. . However you must do a few things such as writing down your goals and putting up the 6 week calendar in a visible spot. Do not start of over the top with your fitness routine. Make doable goals! You will be surprised how these few things can keep you focused. Also you can check out the website www.feelfitforever.blogspot.com. You can view the SMART goals on the power point on the site. Plan to attend as many meetings as possible to help encourage others.

We had a wonderful turn out for our Oct 3rd meeting. The cafe put on a wonderful lunch and our speaker Sara Dubeau was perfect. The topic of homeopathy is very intriguing and Sara just opened the door for many more questions on the topic.

Our visit to the gym and spa was also informative. Good luck to all the new members at the gym. Remember a gym is only as good as the people who go to it. So make the most of your membership go often. Also I am teaching yoga at 8:00 on Wed. at the new gym. I will be also continuing to have my own classes at my house.

We have a new member looking to buddy up with someone who does not have a buddy. Let me know if you would like to keep in touch with a young new member.
In the mean time stay fit, stand tall and stay healthy. I am going out for a walk in the much appreciated sunshine.

Next meeting is Nov. 14th. 12:30 pm. we will let you know details shortly.

Fitfully Yours,
Muriel

Hello Everyone,

I am so looking forward to seeing you at our Oct. 3rd meeting at the Cafe. We have had a very good response to lunch at the Cafe and our speaker Sara Dubeau, Doctor of Homeopathic medicine. We are also visiting the new spa and fitness center in town. It should be a wonderful day and a great chance to get re motivated or to share your good motivation with us. If you have not called or emailed and still want to join us for lunch at 12:30 please inform me by Wed. I give my count to the Cafe by then.

Susie our very skilled line dance instructor is starting a session of 12 weeks on Friday evenings between 7-9 at Albert's Hotel on Calumet Island. The cost is $60.00 and 20 people are needed for the class to go ahead. So if you are looking for something to do that improves your body and mind come out Oct. 1st for the first session.

Also Oktoberfest is on next weekend in Ladysmith. Hope to see you there!. If we get a good response for Sat. evening Susie might lead us in a line dance on the floor. It would be a lot of fun. Let me know if you plan to be there and wouldn't mind dancing. We could set a time of say 9:00 to be on the dance floor.

I know the weather isn't great but try to get out and enjoy the leaves as they are turning colors quickly. In the meantime stay fit, stand tall and stay healthy.

We are also putting in a display for Feel Fit at the Women's Health Day in Renfrew on Oct. 23rd. It is in St. Joseph's School from 9:00-4:15pm. (no admission) I have attend this conference two years ago and found it very informative. So if you are free that day and wish to attend and or would like to man our display for an hour let me know.
